Alma Quartet
Alma Quartet was formed in 2014 and quickly gained reputation as one of the most thrilling ensembles in Holland. Their debut album: Schulhoff Complete String Quartets, released on Gutman Records, has received stellar international praise. The Gramophone claimed “this set shoots straight to the top” and also admired the quartet for being “capable of the most seductive playing.”
The album was chosen for the 2017 Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik ‘Bestenliste’ and was also featured on several German national radio stations including Deutschlandfunk and SWR2, the latter hailing Alma’s Schulhoff cycle as the “new reference recording”.
Their latest album: Korngold String Quartets Nos. 2-3 has recently been released on Challenge Records and has been ranked among the Top40 best albums of 2021 by De Volksrant claiming “Alma Quartet plays Korngold with a touch of soft nostalgia.”
Belgian newspaper De Standaard gave it a 5-star review claiming “the Amsterdam foursome plays formidable […]” and “the result sounds as thrilling as a live concert.”
BBC Radio 3 celebrated their “uncompromising and emphatic performance style” as well as saying that it’s “like close-up magic, listening to this.”
NRC Handelsblad stated “the foursome […] shows the listener in one go the most beautiful flowers along the deepest abysses” and Het Parool praised the quartet for their “enchanting masters level playing” and finds that “the result commands great admiration.”
Spanish magazine Ritmo gave it 5 stars and claimed their recording is “the best available […] for understanding the expressive world of Korngold.” And ultimately, BBC Music Magazine found that there is “a wonderful delicacy and intimacy, with a vivid sense of characterisation.”
Alma Quartet: Dutilleux and Glass, released exclusively on vinyl, has equally enjoyed critical praise. The quartet is noted for their “collective antenna for sophisticated timbres” by De Volkskrant, and for their “carefully forged unity” by De Telegraaf.
Their album: Debussy, Ravel and Dutilleux was given the highest ranking by Luister Magazine and stated that “Alma Quartet plays with desired liveliness, great rhythmic precision and exceptional sound.” De Volkskrant claimed “[…] it
has fire, is rhythmically razor-sharp and a sensuality of the unashamed kind with a beautiful, glowing depth.”
As well as performing the classical repertoire, the quartet is keen on collaborating with artists of other genres such as composer and jazz pianist Rembrandt Frerichs with whom they recently released an album. According to De Volkskrant they play “[…] with a lot of flair and finesse.”
The quartet can also be heard on the next album of pop singer Nana Adjoa and they collaborate intensely with techno producer Henrik Schwarz on a multitude of projects.
On their album CCMYK, they explore the possibilities of seamlessly fusing newly composed electronic and classical music into a new language. A new project is currently being developed and will be recorded in December 2022.
The quartet has performed at prestigious concert halls including Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Müpa Budapest, Konzerthaus Berlin, Tonhalle Düsseldorf, De Doelen Rotterdam, Muziekgebouw aan ‘t IJ Amsterdam, Sociedad Filarmónica de Bilbao, Süreyya Opera House Istanbul, Tianjin Grand Theatre, Harbin Concert Hall, Wuhan Qintai Concert Hall, as well as clubs and theaters such as Philharmonie Haarlem, Diligentia Den Haag, Volksbühne Berlin, Temple Beijing, Musis Arnhem, Paradiso Amsterdam, Bimhuis, Melkweg Amsterdam, Kulturbrauerei Berlin and Střecha Lucerny Prague.
They have played during captivating events such as String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam, Schumannfest Düsseldorf, Classical Music Rave, XJazz Festival Berlin, Down The Rabbit Hole, Shoeless Festival, Pop-Kultur Festival Berlin, Theater Spektakel Zurich, TEDx and Uitmarkt Amsterdam. They are also frequent guests at major (international) live radio and television shows including Spiegelzaal, Podium Witteman and ARTE.

Noordpoolorkest
Noordpool Orkest is een orkest uit Noord Nederland gespecialiseerd in lichte muziek. Een Bigband met strijkers en houtblazers. 42 professionele musici spelen Jazz, Rock, Hiphop, Funk, Drum’n Bass, Kleinkunst, Chanson, Blues en nog uit te vinden genres.
Opgericht in 2010 door de Groningse componist en pianist Reinout Douma bestormt zij vanuit Noord Nederland de rest van de wereld met nieuwe orkestmuziek.
Zij speelde met o.a. Ed Kowalczyk, Waylon, Bert Visscher, Brigitte Kaandorp, Douwe Bob, Janne Schra, Nynke Laverman, Elske deWall, Michael League, Eric Vloeimans, Tineke Postma, Wouter Hamel, Ellen ten Damme, Ali B, Fresku, Shirma Rouse, Hans Dagelet, Karsu, Glennis Grace, Iris Kroes, Jan Akkerman, Fay Claassen, Ruben Hein, Tangarine, Laura Jansen, Kim Hoorweg, Humphrey Campbell, Huub vd Lubbe, Babette van Veen, De Troebadoers, Pe&Rinus.
Sabrina Starke
Sabrina Starke is a self-made, award-winning singer-songwriter, producer, and self-empowerment ambassador residing in Rotterdam, The Netherlands.
Sabrina has won several prestigious awards for her soul-soothing music, including two Edison Awards (Best Newcomer of 2009 & the Edison Jazzism People’s Choice) and two Radio 6 Awards (Best Album 2013 & Best Song 2015). In less than a decade Sabrina has released 5 albums (and a multitude of singles). In 2008 she released her debut album “Yellow Brick Road” and the single ‘Do for Love’. When Blue Note picked up on it and decided to re-release the album, it stayed on the album charts for 52 consecutive weeks and became certified platinum.
For her 4th album she collaborated with the world-famous Metropole Orchestra. Recording the music of the legendary Bill Withers whose music has been an inspiration for her. ‘Lean on me, the songs of Bill Withers’ were released on May 3rd 2013. Worldwide hits like ‘Lean on Me’, ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ and ‘Just the Two Of Us’ to name a few, were among the selected songs for this album.
It was produced by Grammy award winning music arranger and composer Vince Mendoza.

The 5th self titled album “Sabrina Starke,” was her most personal album. The topics she sang about were black awareness, identity, and personal growth. She achieved another milestone by producing this album herself. A dream came true for her. For that album she created a memorable album cover by creating a powerful photo with 37 black women achievers from the Netherlands.
2018 marked another turning-point because of the 10th anniversary of her singing- career. 2018 was a special year for Sabrina Starke. On September 28th she released her 6th studio album ‘Underneath the Surface’.
The new album has become another storybook about herself. Rooted in soul, hip-hop, folk and blues she invites the listener to look closer into the layers of their own lives. The album is all about self- discovery and self-acceptance.
To support the album and to build further on her social mission to inspire, Sabrina debuted as an art curator of the exhibition ‘Who do you think you are?’ where visitors could explore the beauty and complexity of a multi-dimensional identity through the eyes of 9 local and international artists. From September 28 until December 2nd of 2019, art and music lovers could visit and participate in this multi-disciplined experience at TENT Rotterdam.
From October 2019 Sabrina she collaboration with ‘the Jazz orchestra of the Concertgebouw’ conducted by Dennis Mackrel’ to share the story and music of her biggest inspiration ‘Nina Simone’. After a successful tour in the Netherland, they expanded abroad to Italy, China and other countries in Europe.
In 2020 she wrote the title song “Learn to Love” for the movie of Ida Does ‘New Light’.
For 2022 she teamed up with the label Zip Records again to release a new album called ‘Our time Our music. An album project dedicated to collaborating with other inspiring artists. On March 25th she released the first single featured the artist ‘MaikalX’ called ‘Paradise’.
The project contains singles releases and online video content about the studio recording & songwriting process of these new songs. She will tour throughout 2022 in the Netherlands with the OTOM project.
Speelman & Speelman
Vrolijk, eerlijk, raak en vol energie. Je kunt ze kennen uit zo’n beetje elk theater in Nederland, van Oerol, Ahoy, Bevrijdingspop, 3FM en noem maar op.
De gebroeders Speelman & Speelman hebben op veelzijdige wijze hun naam en zowel vrolijke als rake noten in Nederland en omstreken goed bekend gemaakt tijdens het spelen op fantastische podia en het organiseren van eigen evenementen.
Brainpower
In zijn carrière van 25 jaar bracht hij tot nu toe 96 singles en 10 albums uit en scoorde hij onder meer de monsterhit ‘Dansplaat’ en had zelfs in Amerika met het nummer ‘All The Same’ een College Rap Radio Top 5 notering. Ook dit jaar verscheen er nog nieuwe muziek van hem. Brainpower is altijd een voorloper geweest in de Benelux en is daardoor blijvend relevant en een absolute Legend in the game.
Rose Spearman
Rose Spearman bracht twee internationale soloalbums uit op United Records en Sony Music, won een European Border Breakers Award en speelde op internationale festivals als Lowlands, North Sea Jazz, Montreux Jazz, Glastonbury, Exit, Sziget en Love Box. Als leadzangeres van Kraak & Smaak zwierf Rose de wereld rond, tevens werkte zij samen met internationale dj’s zoals Kerri Chandler, Boris Dlugosch en Roger Sanchez en speelde op de internationale podia samen met artiesten als Solomon Burke, Jools Holland, KT Tunstall en vele anderen. Rose trad als enige Nederlandse zangeres op in de Amerikaanse tv-show Jimmy Kimmel.
Over het aankomende studio album “King of Air” release 2023
Het nieuwe aankomende album ‘King Of Air’ handelt over haar Amerikaanse familiegeschiedenis. Na vijf jaar in Nederland te hebben gewoond, keerde haar vader – de Afro-Amerikaanse jazz saxofonist Glenn Spearman – terug naar de VS. Sindsdien voelt de zangeres zich gevangen tussen twee continenten. Half Europees, half Amerikaans en altijd zoek naar een ‘thuisgevoel’. Het album bevat songs over de verloren liefde, misschien nog wel meer over het verliezen van jezelf. De vooroordelen en geboren worden met een Afro- Amerikaanse, Joodse en Nederlandse achtergrond. Als kind met een donkerder uiterlijk gewend uitgescholden te worden, het gevoel van uitsluiting. De achtergrond van Joodse immigranten, jazzmuziek en opera, een Afro Amerikaanse geschiedenis. Een Duits-Joodse grootmoeder verliefd op de grootvader van Rose, één van de eerste professionele Afro- Amerikaanse operazangers in NY in de jaren 50. Hoewel de ingrediënten van de liedjes hetzelfde zijn gebleven; altijd blues-achtig, soulvol, melancholisch maar ook hoopvol, dit keer wel met een nieuwe productionele stijl met een meer geprogrammeerde en elektronische sound, samen te vatten als ‘New Industrial Soul’.
Een nieuw studio album van Rose heeft lang op zich laten wachten. Rose…. “De belangrijkste reden hiervoor is dat ik ook erg druk ben met de ‘andere kant van de muziekindustrie’, mijn eigen internationale muziekbedrijf MARS Worldwide & ‘M.A.R.S. Label Group’. Met inmiddels kantoren in Europa en Amerika (Austin, TX). Bijgestaan door een aantal loyale wereldwijde muziekprofessionals, ben ik er trots op dat het label inmiddels een aantal top tien albums heeft voortgebracht en ben ik zeer enthousiast over al die nieuwe releases die inmiddels wekelijks wereldwijd uitkomen. Ik zie het als een missie om nieuwe muziek uit te brengen en artiesten te promoten. Elke dag als ik wakker word, wacht er een nieuw nummer op me in mijn in-box, het gevoel dat ik deel kan uitmaken van zoiets unieks is bijzonder. Let wel; het runnen van een label anno 2021 is soms een helse klus, maar het is iets wat ik mezelf altijd kan zien doen.
Mick Hup
De naam Mick Hup zal niet bij iedereen meteen een belletje doen rinkelen. Toch heeft de 43-jarige Harderwijker al een behoorlijke staat van dienst. Zo maakte hij met de bands Black Top en Definition Of Madmen een aantal albums en toerde daarmee door Europa, was hij op toer met het ELO tribute ELOve en speelde met Noel Redding (bassist van Jimi Hendrix). Recenter is Mick op de planken te zien als gitarist bij de Whitesnake/Deep Purple tributeband Purple Shade, Beatles on the Rocks, Thin Lizzy Sessions, zo nu en dan bij Stones Sessions en zijn eigen band Chemical Butterfly.
Hup is echter niet alleen een goede gitarist en zanger, maar ook componist en tekstschrijver, en dus moest er een solo album komen dat er nu ook is: ‘Chemical Butterfly’. Hup werkte er twee jaar aan. Op één nummer na (‘Telephone Line’ is een cover van (jawel!) ELO) schreef de zanger alle nummers zelf. Zo zijn we getuige van een enorm persoonlijk album dat zich nog het beste laat omschrijven als een reis langs de emoties van de artiest, die hoorbaar dingen heeft meegemaakt in het leven.
